CDE has been advocating for fair employment practices for domestic employees, particularly for the relatively more vulnerable group of foreign domestic workers (FDWs). In order for fair employment practices to take place, we need employers and FDWs to show understanding and empathy towards each other.
Just like many of us, FDWs are also possibly someone else’s daughter, mother and/or wife. When we understand and respect each other, and practice a bit of give-and-take, a more harmonious relationship can be formed.
Through volunteering at CDE, you can get to interact with FDWs when we embark on outreach activities or participate in events. Learning more about their cultures, their way of lives back home, and their ideals and ambitions will provide you with insights as to how to treat them fairer and give them the appreciation they deserve, just like any other working professional in our country.
